All My Single Ladies...

Let me just out by saying, wow, I never realized how much of a guy repellent a wedding ring is. That being said, here is my story.
As my avid followers know, I have been dropping weight over month or so. So much so that my clothes are beginning to fit super loose and, of course, my rings fall off. Normally it wouldn't be a problem if we were going to a friend's house, out to a restaurant, etc., but this night I was going out with a girlfriend to some clubs. Better safe than sorry, I removed my ring. There was NO way in hell I was going to lose it in such a public place, I would pretty much be kissing it goodbye. Hubby is fine with this. He is secure enough now that he knows I don't want to be nor could I be with another.

I've been out with this girlfriend before. She gets hit on randomly at least three or four times every time we go out. She is married as well but doesn't wear a wedding ring. ((so many of my friends are like this but I never dare to ask why they don't wear their rings)) I usually play defense for her, since I'm hardly ever hit on.

We walked in the club, I thought it would be no different than any other night. Within the first five minutes of us being there I was approached by a man, a pretty good looking one at that, and asked to dance. I had to decline, I'm married of course, and I know I wouldn't want hubby dancing with another female, even if it were just for fun. (maybe if I were there and knew her?). Either way, it boosted my confidence a bit. Was it the ring? or maybe the weight loss? Who knows. We continued the night with drinks and dancing. We were having a blast. Friend and I were dancing in the club with "cages" and there are cages everywhere you turned. We took a spot next to a cage and danced. The next fellow that approached me had the lamest pick up line ever. He asked if I "like dancing on metal or I would like to dance on something harder." The line still makes me giggle. I just had to laugh and walk away.

The nicest of the night I would have to say was a nice, young guy, who told me I was "stunningly beautiful." It almost made me tear up a little and I talked to him for a bit. Told him all about hubby and he told me all about his dating disasters. It was pleasantly surpringly how nice it was to talk to such a complete stranger.

Anyways, the whole point of this story is, is a wedding ring that much of a repellent? Is this why none of my girlfriends wear their wedding rings? Does the same go for the men? I couldn't rush to get home fast enough to put my ring on my finger. Maybe next time I'll go with some heavy duty duct tape holding it in its rightful place on my finger?

Climbing the Rockies

So as many of you know I have been trying to actively check things off of my "bucket list" if you will. Most of the stuff on my list has something to do with being super active and/or sports related. To be honest, I didn't think I'd ever be back in shape enough to live my dreams. Over the past month or so I can feel the fat shedding away, but more importantly I can feel muscles developing, which feels amazing! Yesterday I weighed myself and realized I have lost [not quite yet] about 20 pounds. Wow! That is an amazing feat for me.

Anyways, some friends of ours decided to do something active this weekend to get the men folk out of the house and away from the online gaming. The decision was made by us girls, rock climbing! Now, my friends that know me well are probably thinking "wow, you can't even walk without tripping, what on earth were you thinking!" Well, you would be surprised to hear that I actually did really well. My fear of heights hindered me at first. I watched the guys take turns, one climbing up the wall while the other anchored then vice versa. Then it was me and my female friend's turn. I was eager to let her attempt first. She is a lot smaller and flexible than me. I would watch her moves and see if I would able to do this. After getting halfway up the wall I look up and see her in a split across the wall clinging for dear life. A panic broke out and my heart started racing 'no way' I thought to myself 'you won't get me up there even if my life depended on it.' I brought her down, no problem, then eagerly agreed to be the anchor the rest of our trip. After being encouraged by everyone to go up and by hubby to "beat my fear" I strapped up and started climbing. I made it halfway up the wall on my first attempt before I let the height get to me and was encouraged to go up again and make it all the way to the top. I eventually did, quicker and actually enjoyed doing it. My shaking hands became more stable and by the end, I didn't want to leave. It was such a great experience. I have to recommend this to everyone to try at least once!

Happy Monday!

Good morning my fellow bloggers!! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine wasn't anything to brag about but certainly a weekend! I was busy/booked most of the weekend so I didn't quite get to open up all of the windows and clean/organize, but I got the house spotless pretty much within a few hours last night.
Anywho, I'm starting this new thing. I don't want to call it a diet, simply because diets never last. I'm looking at it as more of a mental and body cleanse. I'm basically only eating fruits and veggies & only when I am hungry. I drink large quantities of water & for the most part don't feel hungry at all hardly. SO with that being said, I'll make sure to keep you guys posted on how it goes & share my hints & tips if any of you want to try it out!

I have MUCH to blog about but not much time right now. Work is picking up which is GREAT! I've been given so much responsibility and faith by my boss that I feel fantastic!! o, and the major pay increase doesn't hurt either! (what?! I'd be lying if I didn't say it!) Anywho, the BIGGEST thing going on right now in my personal life is halloween costume shopping. I'm trying to find a balance between cute & sexy. We are going to different parties this year, some adult and some kid friendly, so I'm trying to walk that line. So far, all of the costumes I like are a little risky..but I may just go with those & wear a cape or something over it for the kid friendly one? I don't know.

Okay, off to work. But not before I leave you with a song/video, per my norm!! This one is a little freaky/freaky...but I like it. It doesn't hurt that I think she is a beautiful girl either! Not to mention that are coming here, along with MANY MANY other great artists next Friday & I will be in attendance with back stage passes. w00t! anyways, enjoy!!!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I sure did!

We checked out this romantic little Italian restaurant not too far from the house Friday night. It was fantastic! I love family owned, small restaurants. Saturday morning we took Buster to the dog park and he absolutely loved it. It was nice to see him able to socialize with other dogs and people. That night we went and checked out one of the "fun arcades" that is more geared to adults. It rated two thumbs down on our scale, so we will stick to the Main Event for now until we find something better. Then we went to see "All About Steve," which I wanted to see when it first came out. It was pretty funny, but in the end I was pretty sad. Wasn't what I was expecting I guess. Sunday was a pretty slow day. We went to watch the Rangers v. Rays (GOOOO RANGERS!). We had awesome tickets that we scored for free from one of the Majors. The seats were fantastic, except after the first inning we had to seek shelter, due to my pale complexion. haha. It was a blast either way. I loved it even more when I realized they kept popping up the score of the Yankees whipping the Red Sux. Fantastic! After the game we strolled past the great lake by the new cowboy stadium, took some great pictures and then headed home. Went grocery shopping then grabbed "Observe & Report" from the Red Box (I had convinced Rob to watch ghosts of a girlfriends past but they were all out of them). I cooked a nice dinner then we watched the movie. Surprisingly, again, some laughs, but it kind of made me sad at the end. What is up with the funny movies turning kind of sad at the end?

Anyways, all in all, a pretty great weekend. What about you guys? Do anything interesting?

Someday We'll Know

I popped in my "A Walk to Remember" CD this morning to change it up from my constant rocking out phase. I had a pretty good weekend, could have been more eventful, but I am grateful for it now, since I apparently will be non-stop for the next month or so. You will not hear a complaint leave my lips though. I am SOOO happy to be living here with my hubby. I always knew he was special, but I didn't realize that we would fall in love all over again. The area is so beautiful and safe. The weather, although pretty hot in the summer, is so beautiful once the season starts changing (which you can already tell it is in the mornings and evenings). The people are fantastic. I still haven't run out of things to do or see around here. It is simply amazing.

I prepped the house for our guest that are coming in a couple days. I feel guilty that they will be left on their own on Thursday, then Friday will have Robert as a tour guide, but I know they will stay entertained in this city. Saturday will be full of shoe shopping with Lyz as she is a shoe whore much like myself, so we will be hitting the shoe heaven as I call it. They will be leaving Sunday, which gives me enough time to re-group my thoughts and house for my special arrival on Friday. For this visit, I had planned a day off, which I am still taking so I can pick her up from the airport. This visit, I am sure, will change Dallas, Fort Worth and all surrounding areas. I'm not sure if they can handle us.

Anyways, back to the beginning, I popped in the CD and this song has been stuck in my head (along with pretty much all the others, guess I'll be watching the movie again soon!). Enjoy!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

Despite the fact that I have been struck with the insomnia stick once again, apparently, I am in a very chipper mood this morning. Rabbit came back yesterday from a trip & we went bowling, which I haven't done in forever. I started off thinking I should let him win, not knowing how poor of a sport he would be if I won (I simply wouldn't know since he beats me at every other game or thing we do lol). I figured, why not play to my full potential, so I did, and I won both games we played. He was a very good sport, which made it better.

This weekend is drill weekend, which means I will be left to my own devise during the weekend days. I think I may venture around to certain spots and take some pictures.

Photobucket

Thinking about going back to the water gardens and wander around and take time taking photos. We will see, depending on the heat!

I'm also going to get new contacts/glasses and run other errands. But what I am most excited about....

Photobucket

RANGERS! v. the Red Sux. I really hope to see the Rangers demolish the sux, but we will have to wait & see, but I certainly am hoping for baseline seats on this one. I have many, many, many reasons to hate the sux, my number one reason being I'm a diehard Yankees fan, always & forever...

Other than that, probably poker or a party at a friend's tonight and who else knows what else.... the weekend is still young, I'll wait & see...happy friday! :)

Too much excitement!

There is so much going on today it isn't even funny!!!

First, I need to mention that today is not only Star's birthday, but Buster's 4th birthday as well. I am a horrible puppy mommy and friend. I totally meant to buy a cute music card and stick it in the mail for Star and get a nice big bone for Buster, but didn't do either of the two. oye!

Also, something I have been waiting for a full month for, that isn't really exciting to anyone but me, BULK PICK UP is this weekend! yaay! I am SO excited that I get to throw out a bunch of the shit (yes I said shit & I meant it) someone left behind...not to mention some of our old stuff that I have been going through. Robert has been forewarned and is even entertaining my excitement. I am SO excited about this.

Next, I have decided that my current car is going to be my car for as long as it runs. Robert & I have made so many car purchases, but this one feels right, for once. Robert even mentioned switching some things out for me (small things like exhaust, etc.) to make it run perfect. Other than the much needed oil change (okay, so the light DID go on this morning, bad bad Devin!), my car is the perfect fit for me!

Also, Courtney & Sarah came up with the CUTEST idea before I left, and I have not lived up to my end of the deal at all. I feel horrible for this. So, that being said, not only do I plan on finishing up with my end and mailing it tomorrow, I have also made so small purchases and plan on sticking those in the mail for the both of them as well, sort of as a surprise/sorry I suck so hard core. I'll have to take pics and post them. If it turns out like I am expecting it should be cute and a smash hit!

Last weekend, I caved in and saw Transformers 2 with Robert, even though I didn't want to. I can't say I liked it, at all actually. The first one was okay, this one.....not so much. Anyways, to satisfy me, he also recommended that we see The Hangover, which we did & I'm still laughing. It is a MUST see movie and a MUST DVD purchase when it comes out. This weekend is my weekend and I am trying to decide between The Proposal and The Ugly Truth. Robert agreed to both & I think at this point, I may take him up on that offer...

Last, and certainly not least, what I am MOST excited about this morning. I received a very unexpected text this morning from my friend Heidi. First, it was a surprise since the last time we spoke she didn't have texts. She was the first friend I made when I originally moved to Texas. She is a stay at home Marine wife/mom of two and I was unemployed. It was great, she is the sweetest girl ever. Then I had to move back home to keep our income stable so we kind of lost touch. When I moved back I wanted to get together with her but Robert told me she moved back home for a while to get help with the new baby. I was upset but understood. So this text came as a welcome surprise to me. Turns out she is back now as well. I can't wait to see her and for us to all hang out again. It was so nice & reminds me of the good old days!

Things are finally getting back to normal. I have cleared out most of the clutter in my house, in my mind and in my life. I am almost back to my happy self again and it is much thanks to my family, friends, and most importantly Robert. He never gave up on us or me.

Happy :)
